The question about if Jesus is God is one of the most profound questions, if you look at some groups they have a strong argument with verses that they take from the Bible, but that said they ignore other very profound versus in the Bible. In this study we will work from the premise that we need to refer to these critics with the proof directly from the Bible, God’s word and only God’s word.
First of all we need to see what God said about Himself and for this we go to the next verse:
Exod 3:14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
With this verse it is clear whom God is, next we have to be sure about the validity of God’s word the Bible. If we do not believe that the word of God is sufficient for our redemption and guidance thereto how can we even study a book if it is flawed?
2Tim 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Tim 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Now that you have faith in God and love Jesus your savior and have the proof that the Bible is the word of God we can begin. At this point if you do not believe in one of these parts then it is time for you to repent and accept.
Then we need to heed the warning about changing the word of God and this starts in the Old Testament and ends with Revelation.
Deut 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deut 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
Prov 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Prov 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
So we have established that God is, I AM, and now we have to look at Jesus the man and Christ the spirit. We have to be sure that the Bible teaches what we profess with our mouths for if not we are in grave danger.
Matt 12:36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Matt 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
This warning is to all that thinks they can manipulate the word of God with vain ramblings to serve their own fleshly interests; they serve Satan while the pretense is rooted in scripture, take heed!
Next we look at the verses from the Bible that tells us that Jesus is God; we need only to look at the word of God to have the full answer. There is no need for conjecture and if you do not believe the Bible then this exercise in truth will be futile.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
John 5:20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
John 5:21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
John 5:23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
John 5:26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
John 5:27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
John 5:28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
John 5:29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
Matt 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
In the last verse we see that even Satan is reminded that Jesus is God, we can continue with more evidence but the question is how much more do you need, or is your heart of stone and if it is repent!
